Adele Greening
Umama Baby
My name is Adele, I’m a 45 year old Mama of 4. I started working as a Community Midwife in London in 2008 and as my family grew I moved to Cheshire.
When I had my last child I made the decision to leave the NHS. The steady increasing challenges within maternity services meant practicing within the values that I stand by in supporting and nurturing birthing Mums and their families was becoming compromised. Consequently, the imbalance of being a mummy to my own children whilst still working was no longer sustainable.
I completed a Diploma in Complementary Therapies in Pregnancy, as well as a Diploma in Mat Pilates specialising in pregnancy and postnatal women. My personal experiences and professional background have uniquely positioned me to fill a crucial gap of providing compassionate continuity of care which was and still is being impacted by the strains on maternity services.
I have been teaching pregnancy and postnatal Pilates classes for a year. My classes are nurturing and skilfully focus on safe and appropriate exercise for birth preparation and postnatal recovery. I carry out home diastasis checks prior to women starting my postnatal classes as this is not carried out by GP’s. This way I can ensure all women are exercising safely and appropriately. I provide all mats and equipment for all classes including baby playmats and bouncy chairs.
I also offer a variety of complementary therapies specific for pregnancy and the postnatal period from the comfort of women’s homes. These range from aromatherapy, reflexology and moxibustion. I incorporate combinations of my therapies into packages to help treat nausea and vomiting, back and pelvic pain, birth preparation and avoiding induction.
